Translation:

Strong in the arms. Mr. Shubael P. Bliss lately carried two dumb bells, weighing 42 pounds each, from Mr. Allen B. Turnor’s market on Westminster street, to MR. Nicholas N. Ceapo’s house, a good mile, without stopping to rest. The feat was accomplished on a wager, and we venture to say the people who can perform such a work as this are very scarce. — Taunton Gazette

I believe Shubael Bliss, Emily’s father, was the one who cut the holes in the two-story fence Judge Fox built a foot away from the house that his daughter and son-in-law, the two Dr. Murphys (Emily and Joseph), built in the First Parish section of Taunton. How dare the “dirty Irishman” and his wife besmirch the First Parish section of Taunton! Go Shubael! Glad he was strong headed as well as strong armed!.

Yes he was the one who cut the holes! I bet he was a fun and interesting man.
